Facts of the matter are that the vehicle was running errands for the Retired Chief Justice Richard Banda when it caught fire that razed it down.

The former President’s husband arrived in Malawi from United States last Wednesday for the funeral of his brother George who was buried last Friday in Chintheche, Nkhatabay.

Three days later the Retired Chief Justice lost another brother, Edward and he had to return to Chintheche on Tuesday for funeral preparations.

That Tuesday evening his driver dropped him back in the village after which he (the driver) had to return to Mzuzu with plans to collect him the following day.

It was on this Chintheche-Mzuzu trip that the vehicle caught fire at Kavuzi.

Police are currently carrying out investigations to establish what led to the fire.
